I am a mama of three teenagers, working in the beauty industry for well over three decades. I have owned several types of businesses starting in my early twenties. I made a decision that changed everything and created the beginning of a solid foundation built on spiritual guidance filling my cup to overflow in all areas of my life. The five intentional areas are in my course The Integrative Mother Experience.

A new beginning is a fresh start, not a continued pattern. It's when we've looked back, recognized our patterns and from their decide to begin new.
Can you really answer the why behind your focus? We change when we release what we notice is not our desire, but see it, allow it to be there and then allow it to transform into something new.
If you are ready to start something new, it starts with the decision.

"It's always time to Choose Joy & Fulfillment," (just for Mamas like you that own a business/work in a service industry)
Welcome to the Integrative Mother Experience Podcast. I'm your host, Sarah Swift. I've been married to my husband for 28 years, and we are raising three children. As a business owner since my early 20s, I am here having conversations about mamas wearing multiple hats, feeling like they need to choose between their work and their family because there isn't enough time for both. Time is an asset that we can't get back. It's the quality that matters. I can't wait for you to join me Hello, mamas. Today's episode is going to be about coming home to yourself and a new beginning that starts today. So I'm going to begin this episode with the question why? This is what I've been actually asking myself lately, and this episode, the timing is so incredibly perfect with the season that we just began. And when I say that- I mean that we're in this season of the leaves are turning, they will be falling off, and there's this freshness in the air with fall. And when we embrace the new season, and we really ask the questions why, why are we deciding to do anything that really is worthwhile and matters deeply to us? And when I reflect back on my summer, summers are wonderful where I live. It was very hot this summer, and I did some traveling. I did not make it to the beach even once this summer, which I felt like was a failure, but I had a great summer, and I will get there. Um, it is one of those things in life that I truly enjoy, putting my feet in the sand and just watching or listening to the water. However, we had lots of time Choosing to follow what we had in front of us this summer was intentional. And so it unfolded the way that it did, and I'm looking at what I have in front of me right now, and I'm intentionally choosing a new beginning. I thought when the kids went back to school, things would really become more quiet, slow down. And it's interesting because I now have two children that are in college and one that is still home not driving yet, and being involved in a lot of activities, I am still very much on a daily basis checking my calendar to see where I need to be and when I need to be there. And my husband's been out of town several times recently, and so not only that, but I was realizing that our dog, Nora, needed to be tended to as well. And I had booked myself really too full several times, and I can reflect back now because I do have a history of frozen shoulders on both sides multiple times, and I do have an injury in my dominant shoulder which is permanent, and I already know my limitations with this. I already know my schedule that I have created several years back works for where I'm at in this season of life, and repetitive motion and holding that arm up too long does not work. And I went in knowing this, taking on a little bit too much in my salon business and I learned from it because I already knew. And when I look at the book work that I have in front of me that is now three months behind from that business, and I can see it completely piled up, and it is October now. And I had this idea that, again, in September I had all these plans for what was going to happen and it did not unfold that way. And it's okay, but then we can start where we are. And I also have another health issue that needs addressing and it's one of those things that I can see the pattern. I can see basically where it was coming from and the pressure that had been building leading me to where I am today. So we've talked about patterns in previous episodes, and it's really interesting when you notice patterns, and you don't even have to be a certain age to be able to look back and to see patterns. Even if you're in your 20s, you can reflect back over the last five years or even 10 years and you'll be able to see patterns if you really track them. And when we recognize them, that's when we can actually make a new decision. So I know that pressure is building up for months for me and slowly for almost two years. And I decided, I made the decision that I am now starting over. I am coming home to myself in this new season. And what that actually means is it's not a continuation. So it's not like the Netflix episode of season three, and it's a continuation. I'm starting over from here. This is a new beginning that starts today. And it's a new chapter. So I can take all the lessons for time or money lost, in choices that were made, in health issues or decisions that were made or ignored, and I can start over because I'm very aware of patterns. I've done tons of work. I have lots of modalities. And with all of that wisdom, I have all the tools in the toolbox to do what I need to do, and it starts with a decision and a choice. And asking the question why, is so important. Asking it multiple times for big questions is what I have found actually leads me to the answer. So when you think about what leads you to the next step, the next idea, the next person that you're going to invest time with or have a relationship with, the fork in the road is often just making that decision. And when you prioritize what those decisions and choices are, it becomes very clear. So my priority in this new season, which is not a continuation, it is starting here today, is I'm prioritizing healing as my number one. And with that, I know it's going to bring in all sorts of abundant things. And for me, having a few people very close to me that I want to support through this season, that are going through their own healing journeys, I am going to be very, very intentional on how I choose to spend my time. if I'm overwhelmed or I'm exhausted, I'm not my best self, and then I can't be there for not only myself, but these other people that I want to be able to help. So when I break my own rules of what I already know works best for me, it leads to burnout every single time. That is a pattern that I can look back on. And when I think about all of the running that I'm still doing in this season of life, with a child very involved in a lot of things and not being able to drive, and another child that has appointments that I need to attend, I need to prioritize what is really important, and every decision really matters. So I start my day with my a.m. routine, and I've talked about this before. But the importance of this is, it allows me to start each day with possibility. And when I have possibility, my mindset is so different than it was years ago when I didn't do this practice. So I can trust that I know God has something planned for me, and I actually can't wait to see how it's all going to unfold, all the possibilities. And my day becomes very intentional because I get to. I don't have to, I get to. I get to choose. And then with that, I notice what wants my attention in my body. And when I notice it and I actually allow it to be there, I can transform it by being grateful and not ignoring it or thinking that it's not okay to feel angry or fearful or sad because that was a pattern of my past. And now that I'm on the other side and I know better, I don't need to repeat those patterns. So instead of seeing it as something that is wrong, I'm actually feeling it and I'm using my grounding techniques and my morning ritual to start my day with intention. And now I can feel supported and safe, which is not something that in the past I have felt. So from there, I get to choose, and that decision might be a big decision, and it might be something that I'm really not decided on, and it might be a big fork in the road because I've been feeling that for a very long time. And the question of why? Why do I want that? And why do I have to choose one thing over the other has come up for me. And because simplicity is something that came back to me very strong, September was not the month that I thought it would be, but today being a new beginning, I know that I'm here and I'm blessed to have another day. And so instead of it being this big decision and this big fork in the road, what I actually decided is that I can integrate the things that I don't want to choose between. And that has been very powerful. I have found out recently a little bit about numerology, and in numerology, I am a life path 11. And what that means is that I have intuitive nature, and that's really interesting to me. I don't know a lot about numerology, but understanding my own life path being a life path 11, I can lose myself in everybody else's energy. And wow, that is such a pattern I've seen my entire life, even before becoming an adult. And I've felt that very deeply. And I also have this deep inner knowing, and it's stronger than any other number. And I have felt that also very deeply. I have chosen quality over quantity several years back, and I just have to keep coming back to it because when I choose it, it feels very aligned for me. And I don't want to miss any of the moments that matter to me. And I don't want you to miss any of the moments that matter to you. So it's always a choice. And when you think about your tolerance for I get to rather than I have to, or everybody wants me to do something, or everybody else does this, you get to choose, and that feeling is very expanding. The last thing I just want to mention also is think about the value versus the cost. So when it was raining and I walked yesterday in the rain with my dog Nora, the value of grounding myself and having that time in nature and moving my body, that was more important to me than the cost of the rain hitting me in the face and getting wet. And I am so glad that I chose it because I came home and I was so refreshed. And you can ask yourself that question really often. Is the cost too big? Because maybe if it is, then you're not available. And if the value is worth it, then choosing becomes so much easier. So your why has to be very strong, and then you make your decision, and you stay grounded in that decision. Come home to yourself, and you can start a new beginning today.
